Standard reward items:
If you catch a tagged cod, you are eligible for a custom-designed reward. You have the choice of three products: a T-shirt (M, L, XL, 2XL), a cap or a mug. (Click on the images to view larger examples).

High-reward Tagging:
Since May 2004, blue high-reward T-bar anchor tags have been released in cod throughout the study region. Returns from these tags may qualify you for a reward of up to $100!!! For more information click here. The blue HIGH REWARD T-bar anchor tag
Cod Tagging Cash Lottery:  

For the first two years of the Program, GMRI held a total of 24 monthly cash lotteries. The lottery phase of the Program is now complete and the lottery funds have been exhausted. Please do not let this disuade you from returning tagged cod - you are still eligable for our standard rewards and your data is valuable to us!

While the lottery was still funded, it was drawn every month for five categories. These areas reflect the recapture location for the tag, and are as follows:

Northern Gulf of Maine and Canada
2)
Georges Bank
3)
Cape Cod area
4)
NH/Mass inshore (e.g. Gloucester, Stellwagen, Jeffreys)
5)
Tags reported from processing plants and markets
